Edenton was first established in 1712 as “the Towne on Queen Anne’s Creek”. It was then incorporated in 1722 and renamed Edenton in honor of Governor Charles Edenton.

Today, Edenton has grown from its humble beginnings to a population of over 5,000 people. In recent years, it has become a popular retirement location.
